Frequently Asked Questions
- Where is El Dorado TrueCare located?
We are located at 205 N. Vine in El Dorado, Kansas. Please select "Locate Us" for a map.
- What are your store hours?
We are open from 8:30am to 7:00pm Monday through Friday and 8:30am to 2:00pm on Saturday. While we are closed on Sundays and major holidays, we also offer 24-hour on-call services in case of emergencies.
- How do I transfer a prescription to your pharmacy? Do I need to fill out any paperwork?
It's easy to transfer a prescription from another pharmacy to us. Just call our pharmacy and give us the pharmacy's phone number and their prescription number and we'll do the rest. If the prescription is out of refills or expired, we'll call the doctor for you to get it updated.
- What are your delivery policies?
We deliver free of charge within the El Dorado city limits. Any delivery received and, if need be, authorized by your doctor before 3:00pm will be delivered the same day. We do require that someone be at the residence to sign for the prescription. While we don't offer prescription delivery if you live outside of El Dorado, we will be more than happy to mail you your prescription at no extra charge to you.
- What about your 24 hour on-call service?
One of our pharmacists is on call 24 hours a day. In the case of an emergency, you can call the pharmacy at 316-321-5330 after hours. The answering machine will then give you the phone number of the pharmacist on call. We do request that you respect our pharmacists' personal time and only use this service for true emergencies.
- How can I reach my physician after hours?
If your doctor practices in El Dorado, you can call the receptionist at Susan B. Allen Hospital at 316-321-3300. Simply request to page your doctor or the doctor on call for him or her.
- Can you help me select a Medicare Part D plan?
As no one plan fits everyone's needs, Medicare Part D can be very confusing. We would be happy to assist you in figuring out which plan is right for you with a Medicare Part D analysis. When performing these analyses, we select the top three plans that best fit your needs and explain the differences to you. If you would like, we can then assist you in enrolling in your selected plan through the Medicare website.
- I'm newly eligible for Medicare. How do I sign up for a plan and when?
The enrollment period for newly eligible patients begins 60 days before your effective Medicare date and ends 60 days after. If you would like assistance in signing up for a plan, let us know. We would be more than happy to assist you with this.
- I'm on a Medicare Part D plan but am interested in switching plans. When can I do this?
If you are already on Medicare, you can elect to change plans one time each year between November 15th and December 31st for the upcoming year.
- I already have prescription drug coverage. Do I need to sign up for Medicare Part D?
If your prescription drug coverage has been deemed to be as good as or better than Medicare Part D, you can elect not to sign up. In the future, if you decide to sign up you will not be penalized. If you have no prescription coverage or your current coverage is not as good as Medicare Part D, you may be penalized 1% per month for every month that you haven't signed up. For example, a person who initially chooses not to enroll in a Medicare drug plan for the first year of eligibility will have monthly premiums that are 12% higher than normal. A person who waits five years to sign up for Medicare Part D will pay monthly premiums that are 60% higher.
- Why is your pharmacy so much faster than the chain pharmacies at filling prescriptions? Are you taking shortcuts?
Over the years, corporate chain pharmacies have led people to believe that prescriptions require at least 20-30 minutes in order to be filled safely. This simply isn't true. These giant corporations realize that for every minute they can delay a prescription, the odds are increased that you'll shop for more items in their store. In fact, these corporations keep track of how long patients wait for prescriptions, and some of them have even been known to cut pharmacy staff when prescriptions are being filled too quickly. At El Dorado TrueCare Pharmacy, safely filling your prescriptions is our top priority. At the same time, however, we realize your time is valuable. We know that it is our duty to address your healthcare needs as quickly and as professionally as possible, especially when you or your loved ones are sick.
- Do you offer compounding services?
At TrueCare, we offer a wide range of specialized compounded prescriptions that are specifically tailored to your needs, tastes, and your physician's orders. If you have any questions about specific compounded medications, feel free to give us a call.
- Do you offer Medical Equipment?
We offer a wide range of medical equipment right here in the store ranging from canes to nebulizers and access to thousands of other items which we can order for you and have within one to three business days.
- My current pharmacy never seems to have my medication in stock. Is this a problem for you?
Other pharmacies constantly receive corporate pressure to keep their drug inventories as low as possible. In fact, most other pharmacies actually benefit from forcing you to make two trips per prescription rather than one. Many of these corporations view your second trip to pick up the remainder of your medication as one more opportunity for you to shop in their stores. At TrueCare, we care about your time and want to limit these extra trips as much as possible. We keep the most extensive inventory of medications in town and while we can't claim that we're never out of stock on a medication, we can have any drug by the next business day.
- I'm getting ready to do my taxes. Can I get a record of my prescriptions that you filled for me last year?
Prescription profiles for almost any date range are just a click away. We can also customize this list for you and add or delete any information that you would like.
- Can you help me save money on my prescriptions?
We offer many ways to save on prescription costs, starting with our free TrueCare Preferred discount program. We understand how expensive medications can put a strain on your finances. Because of this, our pharmacists routinely discuss the costs of new prescriptions with physicians, recommending more cost-effective alternatives whenever they are available. If you feel that you're currently paying more than you can afford for you medications, we invite you to come speak with one of our pharmacists. We can thoroughly analyze your medication list, providing you with several options which can save you money. Also, if you are covered on a plan other than Medicare Part D we can help you find money saving coupons!
